Streaming Video: Getting The Most Out Of Your Gig.

There are two reasons I am writing this article, and they have everything to do with your live performances.  This above all: you have no excuse not to be making videos of your live show and using them for streaming video.  There are two reasons for doing this.

First and foremost, you need to videotape your shows (or in this age, use a web cam, iphone, or Android) for YOURSELF first, and not just your audience.  This is especially true for your rehearsals, too.  Then, you need to watch your performances that you recorded and critique any areas that might need improvement.  Questions you need to ask yourself are: “am I utilizing the whole stage?” (something you SHOULD be using in its entirety), and how are we relating to each other onstage?  Are we stiff-looking or are we pleasantly fluid?

The other reason you should film your shows is that there are so many streaming video services that will allow you not only the ability to broadcast your shows, but actually get paid while selling your CD and merchandise right alongside the show.  Again, there are many choices you have for streaming video your show.  One such example is at: gigee.me online.

Make your show more than a show.  Make it a filmed extravaganza and connect it with your fans.  Make it a celebration that you are all together as a team and also “at one” with your fans.

More to come.
