Indie Music Video Promotion
This lesson will give you a COMPLETE plan to market your music video or implement your indie music video promotion plan.

From the very beginning of the launch of my book/Ebook, “The Musician’s Companion,” indie music video promotion and marketing was addressed, and the later launch of this website was designed to provide you with free music promotion advice and a supplement to the “The Musician’s Companion” book/Ebook.  I have always maintained that automating your online music promotion efforts and indie music video promotion strategies is the key to success. I have also taught you ways to do so, and will continue (just as you’ll see below). In terms of music video promotion, I have stated in the past that actual music sales are more important to you, are what you should be focusing on obtaining and, over all, not to be too concerned with not having a music video if you are, in fact, lacking one. I still believe this is true.

However, we are all now blessed more than ever with the ability to EXPLODE the exposure of our music videos, thanks to a wealth of cutting-edge music video promotion companies and organizations. Combining this welcome new reality with the not-so-new understanding that CONTENT is “king,” we can easily see that having a music video and music video promotion strategy or “one-click, AUTOMATED service” for music video promotion, makes the idea of having a music video particularly “tempting.” After all, CONTENT is “king!” While in the past, I might not have been willing to recommend some of the following information, I will say beyond doubt that if you have no budget, no camera, and no time to make a music video, there are now (in the true spirit of AUTOMATION), ways to obtain quality video imagery to embed your songs on, so that you don’t show up empty-handed to the dinner party.  Indie Music Video Promotion is STILL an option within your reach, even if you use text. YouTube is waiting, and you should really have something, even if you create your own movie of still shots or song lyrics to serve as a music video platform. In the past, I would have been tight-fisted and, perhaps, cutting off my nose to spite my face, by not recommending pre-filmed, licensed footage (in the spirit of making your own and staying original) but, let’s face it, there are many Instrumentalists out there who simply want some satisfying imagery to match the mood of their music, they lack outside resources, but want to provide CONTENT and have access to music video promotion opportunities and resources as a way of increasing sales of their songs and their albums.

It doesn’t have to be expensive as long as it is “done well” and “presented well!” If you do shoot your own music video (yes, that would be IDEAL!!), again, it does not have to be expensive as long as it is done well. You can even stick with a live performance to serve as one or “create a visual story” and allow your music video to portray it. Let’s take a look at just a small number of available options for you concerning your music video promotion and online music promotion efforts, including some companies that will provide you with stock footage (if you absolutely must use it), so that you can arm yourself, have access to, and be able to participate in a wonderful (not-so-new) way of showcasing your music, generating income (make sure you sign up with YouTube in order to MONETIZE your music videos, link to your albums, as well as your shows if you play out), and INCREASING your musical presence.  Here are some wonderful resources to assist you in your indie music video promotion and marketing efforts.

Promolta.com – This is a very cool site. They have a large Publisher Network that sets up an online campaign for your music video, placing it only on targeted websites, blogs, and social media platforms. It is introduced to relevant people most likely to become new, permanent fans of yours, purchase music on iTunes, and attend live shows. You can find out the people who are viewing your video, where they’re located, how long they viewed your music video, and if they shared it with friends. Everything is AUTOMATED and carefully targeted to the correct audience.

Shutterstock.com – This is a great stock footage site that supplies well over 2,000,000 royalty-free clips that appear very pleasant, graphic-intense, and perfect for laying music tracks within. You’ll have something to bring to an audience.

Videoblocks.com – This is another service that provides you with unlimited downloads of footage containing HD clips, backgrounds, templates, and other options. This might also be ideal for instrumental and electronic instrumental music that needs some imagery to match the mood. Best of all, this could also serve as the ultimate “time saver” in creating a worthy music video presentation of your work.

Let’s get going 😉 MORE TO COME.
