Happy New Year, Dear Readers, Plus Two Morsels of Wisdom to Start Your 2020!

Dear Talented Artists,

I am writing to wish you the most fulfilling and spectacular 2020 that your especially creative minds and hearts can imagine and foster into reality!

I have been very busy attending to personal matters and projects/publications that I am confident will benefit you soon. Thus, despite all the writing and editing I have been doing in my own life, I have temporarily been unable to devote as much time to this website as I would like to. I am thinking of you and wishing you the best that the coming new year has to offer. I have not gone away or stopped believing in you or wanting to mentor you through this free online resource.

Please forgive me for the absence. I am compelled to offer you two quick bits of wisdom to help you start your 2020 on a wise (and musical) note!

1.) Somebody once said that, the people who wish most to become Stars, or famous, have this desire because they are not busy “starring” in their own lives. This, perhaps, holds true for those who want to be famous just for fame’s sake and the idea of attention to make up for what they feel is missing in their own lives regarding the amount love and support they need in their own lives. They feel that, if they become famous, it will somehow make up for what is lacking in their personal lives. It is a sad and quite possible truth.

Regarding the above statement in example #1, I don’t believe it applies to you because you are a real artist. You are creating music and possibly visual, moving or non-moving imagery because that is what you do. I applaud you for allowing the creativity and talent within you to be manifested into the world. It takes amazing courage and bravery.  Way to go, you!

If you do want to become famous, you deserve it. You know this. But, fundamentally, you also know that getting your music out there and not having it stay inside you is what’s most important and that, eventually, you will “catch on” with others to a level you are satisfied with since you will know you have made a difference in so many lives. So, promote online and sell, since technology today enables you to do so from the home computer at your fingertips. And if you happen to perform live, keep getting out there.

Artists often feel on the “outside” of the world, looking in as a spectator and writing/making music that describes what they see, their feelings toward what they see, and doing it in an abstract way that not only brings entertainment and insight to people, but also allows them to see things in a new, different and evolved way. If a true artist, as you know you are, feels on the outside of the world looking in, it is NOT the same as a person who isn’t an artist but just simply wants to be famous. You are caught in a similar irony or juxtaposition with ordinary folks who want fame for fame’s sake, but you are not the same. You are the real deal as an artist, and mass visibility and exposure is what you deserve for your work since your work speaks so eloquently for YOU.

2.) It’s unfortunate that we live in a global society so filled with mistrust that, when you want to do something nice for someone just for the sake of doing something nice and not wanting something back in return, people in society often become mistrustful because they cannot fathom why anyone would do anything nice for anyone else at all without wanting something back in return. As an artist, musical talent, musician, visual artist, or all four plus “even more,” you must see the silver lining, placing yourself at an advantage. The silver lining is that, when someone hears that special song or sees that creative piece of yours that contains your special song, you have given them something you took so much time, blood, sweat, and tears to create for them to improve and evolve their lives. They can only know, especially if you are not there in person and it’s just your recording, writing, or visual piece, that they cannot possibly give you anything in return because you are not even there in-person to accept it. So keep at it.

My father would always say: Stay the Course. I’m sending this message to share with you. The people might not thank you initially, but you will be thanked eventually. All will happen in due time. Just Stay the Course. I will be back with more resources to help you on your journey.

For now, Happy New Year with wishes of success and prosperity in your lives!

Warmly,

Paul
